What is in a Name?

We have been asked how we came up with names for our babies. In case you are wondering, we landed on Neisha Grace D'Penha and Dylan Rohan D'Penha after several months of lengthy debate.

We found the name "Nisha" on an Indian website of several thousands of names. It was important to Lindsay that at least one name had Indian heritage. As we researched the name Nisha further, we found multiple ways to spell it. We chose "Neisha" as we liked the way it was spelled and the meanings of the name in multiple cultures.

Neisha (Nee sha) = Alive and Well, All Good Things in Life (East Indian, Hindi); Little Princess (American Indian); Lamb, Pure, Chaste (American); Independence, Individualism and Uniqueness (Thai)

Grace = Good Will, Blessing (Latin), Love (Irish)

We decided on Dylan as it is one of Lindsay's middle names. Dylan continues the D'Penha family name and line. When we learned the meaning of Dylan, we thought it was also fitting due to where we live, close to the ocean.

Dylan (Dill on) = Son of the Wave, Born Near the Sea, Influence, Son of the Sea (Welsh); Heart (Sanskrit)

Rohan = To Ascend, Mountain, Healing Medicine (East Indian, Hindi)
