The last several weeks of pregnancy kind of prepare you for weird sleeping patterns. The house is quiet, only rain sounds coming through the baby monitor and mowgli's breathing. The babies went to sleep a few hours ago, I'm just starting to get tired. I enjoy this time of the day (sometimes more than others) and find Facebook and blogging to be a great outlet.
Dylan & Neisha are growing like weeds. We bought bigger bottles (8 oz) on Thursday and are slowly changing over to the new nipples and moving from 5 oz to 6 oz per feeding. I think one of the challenges of parenthood is knowing when your children are ready to move to the next thing. Sometimes I think the kids know, much sooner than we get it as parents. I guess that is what your first born is for, testing the waters pushing the envelope. In our case, our first born children are also our last, maybe that is why we are so focused on these moments.
One of the benefits of having twins is that we are experiencing the stages of development and life in stereo. As we see things like "hand recognition", putting hands in mouth, recognizing people and seeking attention through cooing and smile talk in both our children within a similar time frame, its easier to baseline where we are compared to what the books say... Because we are so focused in the moment, it is much easier to see those same development milestones in babies of similar age.
The other day Gemma said something like this, my trip from India is a much better value with 2! Once you've experienced life with 2 newborns at once you really do not know any different. Most of us come into this world alone, Neisha & Dylan came together... how cool is that?! Oh to be so lucky!
