Neisha & Dylan are 6 months (26 weeks) old today. Both are teething. Dylan has teeth coming in all over the place and Neisha seems to be getting a tooth on the bottom right. Cranky babies in stereo, 3:00 a.m. style. Who knew babies teeth at night. Logical yes, rational... you decide.
We are trying all sorts of things to help ease pain/comfort the babies. There are these homeopathic teething tablets that seem to work pretty well. When it gets really bad (fussy alien abduction) a little Tylenol. Daddy came up with using the baby gum brush. It works pretty well. The brush goes on your finger and is made out of a harder plastic so your can get right where the baby needs it. Dylan directs us with his biting down and pushes your hands to the right place. We also put teething toys in the freezer, something cool sometimes works. Cold wash cloth to chew on. Another one of those times as a parent, wish you could fix it, but instead you are left to provide support as your children work through it.
Teething is a right of passage from milk dependence to carnivore. We've all had to go through the process, doesn't mean it is easy for any of us (watchers/doers). A friend at work said the other day, "You know, parenting is just an experiment". I laugh, he is right. None of us are born with a manual. For sure, the combination of Dylan and Neisha has only just been introduced to this planet we call earth. I see our job as parents is to "not mess them up" and "teach them" to be good citizens. Pretty daunting task, considering the multitude of variables in any given day that could derail either objective.
So, you do the best that you can each and everyday, knowing full well "your best" means different things as we (parents) are also bombarded with a multitude of variables that sometimes our best is just showing up and surviving. The hope is on good days, we somehow are able to do more than the bare minimum.
I tell Linz, we are saving money for our kids future --- college, therapy or both. Any way you slice the pie, our kids will eventually be grown-ups and they'll have to figure out how to "not mess up" and "teach" others.
The babies are starting to stir again, its 4:15 a.m. and this time they'll both want to eat.

So with Cal I did beef jerky...it worked great and he love the flavor! I just would watch him if he got a bite off i would just take it out. I love the teething tablets, they were my best friend.
