Moments in time...

Grandma Gemma arrived home safely. She spent the first 6 months of our lives with us. We loved her when she was here, we sure miss her and look forward to her return.

We are all going through Grandma withdrawals. Neisha has it the worst. Before Grandma left we created a video to add to the baby crack collection. We turned it on Sunday evening, Neisha and Dylan smiled for 15 seconds and reached for the screen and melted down. They didn't understand why Grandma didn't pick them up. It is much too soon. At some point in the near future the video will provide comfort.

Grandma spoke to Dylan on the phone, he laughed, smiled and looked around to see her. The phone seems to be much easier to handle.

So, how are we doing?... adjusting. The first couple of days were harder than usual, getting back to a schedule/routine helps a great deal. Sleep is over rated a missed luxury. ;-)

The babies have gotten big. Not sure how Grandma managed. Our 6 month (really 7 month) visit is at the end of June. Looking forward to the stats to confirm what my arms, back and other muscles I forgot I had, already know... parenthood is becoming a physical sport!

We have branched out to veggies - sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, peas and beans. Get this, after our veggie tasting cycle, we gave the babies apple sauce... they didn't like it as much as their veggies. (Note, I'm documenting this, to use later... ;-) ... ) We are going to stay with the veggies and oatmeal/rice cereal for now. Mommy so wants to see how they react to pears and bananas... I hear patience is a virtue!

Daddy has to get some video of Dylan and Neisha watching baby crack (Baby Einstein), we thought it was hilarious the first time we introduced it. The reactions now will astonish even the most knowledgeable among us. Dylan is really hooked. He uses his "grunts" to get you to pick the right video, his smiles and glee sounds to tell you when "you have a winner" and he actually laughs and seems to get the "jokes /humor" of the puppet interactions.

Think the thing that surprises us the most is that Dylan moves his hand in time with the beat of music. We see this most often when he watches Baby Einstein, but also with classical music and others genres. At first we thought it was a fluke, maybe a reflex and we were reading something in to it. It is pretty consistent and his hand moves in time with the beat. Daddy is pleased.

Daddy pulled out his violin the other day and played for the twins. He is a bit rusty (hasn't really played in over 12 years) the babies loved it. Daddy let them feel the strings and played to a very attentive audience. When we get more space (very soon we hope), it will be nice to have the keyboards and guitar back in the evening entertainment mix.

Life is crazy busy, moments like this make it all worth while.
